Often referred to as Hub City, Hagerstown was home to many railroads and roads that led to a boom in industry and population during the 19th century. Today, a renaissance is taking place with revitalization efforts bringing visitors back to the city that once boasted prosperous manufacturing and a place for weary travelers heading to points east or west. Located in the heart of Washington County, scenic byways connect quaint main street towns to the city.

The Group Sales Department at the Hagerstown/Washington County CVB has itinerary ideas that showcase all the region has to offer, including Civil War history, quaint towns, scenic views, wine, museums, art, outdoor recreation, agritourism, and even a Pottery Trail.

The Colonial Theatre on Potomoc Street in Hagerstown was built in 1914 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
